Good to know

A Mountain Retreat Where Memories Are Made Welcome to Trailhead Lodge—a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the people who matter most. Nestled beside the boundary of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this thoughtfully designed cabin offers something rare: quiet, low-key trail access just steps from the driveway. There’s no grand entrance sign or crowds here—just a peaceful forest path that gently invites you into nature. Whether you’re chasing waterfalls, sipping coffee on the private balcony, or watching your kids laugh in the game room, you’ll feel it almost immediately: the exhale, the stillness, the joy of being fully present together. ⸻ 🛌 Comfortable Space for Everyone • Sleeps 8 comfortably • Two King Bedrooms (one on each floor for privacy) • Private Master Suite with ensuite bath, coffee + bourbon bar, and balcony • Game Room Bunk Nook with two bunk beds (4 twins), perfect for kids or teens • TVs in every sleeping area, plus living and game rooms ⸻ 🍳 Kitchen & Dining Made Easy • Fully stocked kitchen with everything you need • Log dining table for 6 + bar seating for 4 • Coffee bar and ice machine so mornings feel effortless ⸻ 🎯 Game Room & Family Fun • Pool table, arcade games, board games, and cozy seating • Big-screen TV for movie nights and game-day gatherings • Designed for connection across generations—no one left out ⸻ 🌲 Outdoor Spaces & Wildlife Watching • Hot tub under the stars (seats 4) • Two decks with fresh mountain air and outdoor dining • Gas grill for simple, memorable meals • Frequent bear sightings—best enjoyed from the deck at a safe distance 🐻 Bear tip (with love): Bears can smell food from over a mile away. Leaving snacks on the deck is basically ringing a dinner bell. Please bring all food inside when not actively enjoying it—we like our bears wild and our guests relaxed. ⸻ 🏞 A Truly Special Location • Trail steps from the driveway – Cove Mountain Trail connects to Sugarlands Visitor Center and Laurel Falls • Less than 1 mile to Ober Mountain (skiing, tram, alpine fun) • 3 miles to downtown Gatlinburg for dining, shopping, and distillery tours ⸻ 🏊 Resort Perks Included • Access to 3 mountaintop pools, tennis, and pickleball courts • Pools open Memorial Day–Labor Day • Courts open year-round ⸻ ⚠️ A Few Helpful Notes (So There Are No Surprises) Mountain Roads & Driveway • Roads are winding, and the driveway is steep (typical mountain setting). • Flat parking is available at the base if preferred. • Most front-wheel drive vehicles do fine; winter months may require 4WD or chains. Cell Service & Wi-Fi • Spotty cell service (especially AT&T) is common this close to the park. • Strong, reliable Wi-Fi for streaming and messaging. Bear Country Basics • Lock car doors • Never leave food outside • Enjoy wildlife from a safe distance—they really do stop by! Trip Insurance • Due to weather and mountain conditions, trip insurance is strongly recommended. • We’re unable to provide refunds for weather-related events. ⸻ Come Rest. We’ve Thought of the Details. Trailhead Lodge isn’t about rushing from one attraction to the next—it’s about giving your nervous system a break, your family room to connect, and your soul a little quiet. We’re so glad you found us.

Other Details to Note

🔎 Other Things to Know (Before You Pack Your Bags) 1️⃣ Check-In & Check-Out Check-in is at 4 PM Check-out is at 10 AM (we promise it comes too soon) 2️⃣ TV & Streaming Enjoy Spectrum cable channels + smart TVs to stream your favorites. 3️⃣ Cell Service & Wi-Fi AT&T users, heads up: cell signal is spotty inside the cabin (we're tucked right by the National Park). But don’t worry—Wi-Fi is fast and strong for texting, streaming, and staying connected. 4️⃣ Hot Tub Prep Professionally cleaned before and after every guest. In extreme cold, the water will cool ~5°F per hour if left uncovered. Keep the lid on when not in use to stay cozy! 5️⃣ Mobility Notes About 20 steps to the front door. Once inside, layout is easy to navigate. 6️⃣ No Smoking or Vaping Inside We want everyone to enjoy a clean, fresh mountain retreat. 7️⃣ Nature Lives Here Too 🌿 This is a mountain cabin surrounded by trees—expect a few uninvited guests: bugs, leaves, pollen, and the occasional spider or mouse looking for warmth in winter. Outdoor cushions may be damp after rain, and leaves or pollen may settle on the deck. Our home is professionally cleaned and regularly treated for pests, but nature has a way of reminding us we’re in her backyard. 8️⃣ Mountain Driving & Winter Weather Roads are paved and plowed, but winter storms may affect driving. 4WD or chains recommended in snowy conditions. We highly recommend trip insurance to protect against weather-related cancellations or road closures. 9️⃣ Steep Driveway Alert Most vehicles can handle it just fine. If snow or frost is expected, or if you prefer not to drive up, feel free to park on the flat area at the base of the driveway and walk up. 🔟 Damage Protection A $40 “management fee” covers $1500 in damage protection (instead of a large cash deposit). Details are in the rental agreement. 1️⃣1️⃣ Bear Country Guidelines 🐻 Bears are strong, smart, and have a sense of smell 7x better than a bloodhound. LOCK your car doors. Do not leave food or trash outside unattended—it’s basically a dinner bell. Enjoy bear sightings from a safe distance. No selfies, please 😳. 1️⃣2️⃣ Rental Agreement Considered electronically accepted once you confirm your reservation. No signature needed—just bring your sense of adventure.

We had a wonderful stay in Gatlinburg! Seeing multiple bears was definitely a highlight. We loved having trail access close by. The hot tub on the porch overlooking the mountains was a favorite for all and the kids loved having their own space in the game room downstairs. Amy was an excellent host, clearly communicating all important details about the stay and providing recommendations for nearby activities. We hope to stay at the Trailhead Lodge again in the future!

Amy and the house was the best. Communication before and during was perfect. We were ahead on travels so we were able to get in before check-in time. Grill was broken and within a few hours we had a new one. Def our top stay and will for sure be back! This house was up in the mountain with trails right at the house and wildlife everywhere.

I booked this for my kiddos 16th birthday last minute. Amy was wonderful and responded very quickly. I love that she has extras to be added on. The birthday cake and balloons were such a great surprise for him. (He thought I didn’t get him a cake lol) It’s very spacious and so so cozy. The only issue we had was the hot tub not going above 88, which she was made aware of Saturday. It didn’t get fixed during our stay however, I’m sure it is lovely and Amy was extremely helpful with it. We all loved the game room but the only thing I would recommend is having more heat in it. It got extremely cold at night. I’m an over packer, so we had plenty to bundle up with. The driveway is steep and it’s much easier parking at the bottom and walking up. Overall we had a wonderful weekend. The only bad thing about the trip is the birthday boy ended up sick most of the trip.

Amy’s place was great for our fall break trip. We were traveling with two 11 year old boys and they loved having their own space in the basement. My husband took advantage of the close access to trails for his morning runs. The location was great and only a short drive to Gatlinburg.

This cabin was a great place for the family. It had a basement arcade with games for the kids and a nice hot tub on the 1st floor deck for relaxing. Great kitchen for cooking and a large table for eating. It does have a steep driveway but has a landing at the top so it was no issue.

Thank you for the great stay at your place, Amy! We really enjoyed the space (especially the views from multiple porches and the fun game area downstairs), as well as the proximity to GSMNP - very easy access to so many trail heads. We had a wonderful time hiking and enjoying the area! Thanks again!
